Maybe the banner should say "3000 dead? Wait until you see what our God can do!"

The insensitivity and opportunistic nature of witness at the 9/11 site !
by stuckinarut2 ini saw an online post with pictures of all the witnessing carts all around the 9/11 site during the anniversary of the tragedy.... im appalled at how opportunistic they are, and how they prey on people in a mourning and vulnerable state!.
apparantly they boast of: "there are 65 carts, with 200 witnesses manning the area... and so far 15 new studies started!".

Dancing with the Stars vs Friday evening service meeting
by FadeToBlack inso funny.
last week (start of new season for dws in poland - apparently still very popular) my wife did not feel so well, so she stayed home.
but, she was well enough to watch the entire show as opposed to going to bed to rest.

DWTS vs service meeting? That would be a toss-up for me. DWTS by a hair if forced to choose.

What Happened to the Religion I Left in 1995?
by JoshJeffries injosh here, new to the board.
glad to know this site is here.. i would not be writing this if it were not 2014. i was a ministerial servant and regular pioneer who left the jehovahs witnesses back in 1995/96, around that time.
i left suddenly, didnt fade away, just left when something clicked one day in my head during the morning shower and made me realize this religion wasnt true.

Welcome Josh! Like you I had my awakening in the mid 90's. At least I began to have serious doubts. Unlike you, it took me years to walk away for good, in large part because I was born in, and it was the only life I knew.
The fact of the matter is that the religion has constantly changed since its inception. The one you knew was radically different than the one Charles Russell started in the 1800s. When a religion changes that much, that often, it means only one thing- they never had the truth to begin with.

Unfortunately, most JWs wont see it that way. They'll simply see the number and be awed at how Jehovah is speeding up the work. Impressive numbers that demonstrate growth are how they validate their religion. As with all other "growth" reported by the WT, they don't realize how badly the numbers are skewed.

"I don't care if it's teachings are false, I'd never leave because it's the best way of life"
by 4thgen inhave you ever heard that statement?
i have heard it many times and i just don't know what to do with it.
they are chosing a to live a lie because they like the lifestyle.

I think the best response would be "How do you know it's the best?" Most JWs, especially the born-ins, can't honestly make such an assertion, because they've never lived any other way. Even those who converted have sampled very little of what life has to offer.

PART TWO of AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE BY A PRACTICING JEHOVAH'S WITNESS
by Sparks inwhile you are sitting there reading this, there are literally hundreds of thousands of young males and females all over the world [ mostly in america / canada and england] sitting in their grotty little smelly bedrooms or flats, designing computer viruses that they will up-load onto web-sites to cause anonymous innocent peoples computers to malfunction.
these creeps spend literally weeks, months or even years hoping to make a computer viruses that will get into peoples computer bios to completely destroy their computers.
they never see the peoples anger, frustration and distress.... the damage can cost each person about 1,000 [ $1,660.74 ] or more to replace a basic new laptop or tower.

My brother recently had just his seat stolen. He rode his bike to a nearby thrift store, and wasn't in there for more than 15 minutes. When he came out the seat was missing. The things people will steal, I guess.

Heavy metal
by Godsendconspirator ini have always loved heavy metal music (thrash metal to be more specific).
since heavy metal is usually associated with satan and occult themes many christians and jws in particular stray away from it.
in my teenagehood i was listened to it obsessively until i started studying and got baptized at age 18 and i started listening to other genres.

Was a big fan of Metallica in the '80's(even though heavy metal was frowned upon). Loved everything they did up until the Black album, especially Ride the Lightning.
